Emergency officials have turned the scene of the devastating King Street fire over to property representatives as cleanup efforts continue in downtown Bridgewater.
Officials say King Street remains closed because of debris left behind by the fire. Public Works crews are expected to clear the roadway overnight, with the street scheduled to reopen to traffic this morning. Residents are still being asked to avoid the area until the cleanup is complete.
Investigators continue to examine what caused the fire, although officials say the cause remains undetermined at this time.
Meanwhile, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm the identity of the deceased person discovered following the fire.
The blaze destroyed two residential buildings and prompted a large response from fire departments across the region earlier this week.
