The province is taking measures to help people who have rebuilt their homes after the devastating 2023 wildfires in HRM and Shelburne County. The government approved amendments that will stabilize capped property assessment value. That means a home that has been rebuilt to a condition similar to its pre-wildfire state will not see an increase in the capped assessed value. The amendments are now in effect and will be reflected on assessment notices later this month.
